The Oscars #1 | And the winner is ….

So if like me you are an award season fan, you know that last Sunday 2nd March, this coveted time of year came to an end with the GRAND FINALE that only the OSCARS can bring to town, in other words – the fashion frenzy night.

Surely the focus of the night for many out there are the movies being nominated, but let’s be honest for a moment, we (and I do mean us women) really what we want to see are what the celebrities will be wearing right – Well I know I am!!! From shimmering metallics to bold jewel tones actresses donned runway trends to showcase colours and silhouettes inspired by Hollywood’s golden age.

And here are my Top 10 faves (in no particular order as to be honest for me they all hold the No. 1 slot).

Newcomer for the award season Lupita Nyong’o in Prada and personally a fave of mine, she delivers this dreamy blue piece with the perfect plunging neckline with such grace. There’s enough flow going on to give this dress real presence and just the right amount of skin to make it look comfortable.

Amy Adams picked a gorgeously figure-hugging navy Gucci Premiere gown for this occasion and I just love the bold hue on her since it totally enhances her fiery tresses and pops against her alabaster skin! Not to mention the gown’s foldover detail along the neckline and the side peplum accents (I love peplum) took it to the next level, injecting it with an extra dose of elegance! So fab, I want one!!! A sexy, classic, and flawless look.

Penelope Cruz dazzled the red carpet with this pale pink Giambattista Valli gown with that lovely bow detail. The whole ensemble screams Grecian goddess gorgeous with extra points going for the fact that it actually is a fabulous body flatterer – subtly displaying Ms. Cruz curves but allowing her to breathe and move.

Kate Hudson in Versace and I have to admit very rarely we see Ms. Hudson in an awful gown and today she did it again, never failing to shine on the red carpet. The silky white stunner with caped shoulder and ooh la la that plunging neckline – it’s as much regal as it is stunning – Love it, love it, love it.

Cate Blanchett is a total stunner in this amazing Armani Privé custom-made gown. If you ask me this gown is a work of art in itself. The nude with cream and gold detail just pops on the carpet, and paired with those giant diamond cluster earrings, the whole ensemble is a perfect match made in couture land.

Charlize Theron went for quite a bold choice in this Dior gown, but if anyone can pull it off its surely Ms. Theron. The whole look screams wild and fashion-forward. The swooping Mermaid skirt is absolute perfection, but that neckline dipping right into her cleavage, just as it should be, effortlessly managing to make the whole look an instant classic!

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen and there is not much one can say other than she looks absolutely amazing, reminiscence of a sexy screen siren circa 1940 from her luscious locks to her curvy shape.

Anne Hathaway looked absolutely gorgeous in this hot Gucci halter frock, my first impression was like is she’s wearing the undershirt of a knight in shining armour? But boy oh boy the cut is fierce enough to make the gown work and even more perfect was the open back detail and a sexy sexy slit which revealing matching black pumps! To die for.

I did not see this one coming – Lady Gaga making my list as for me her style is a bit hard core but I stand to be corrected as she looks amazing in this Versace gown and she totally owns it!!!!! The singer wore the simple yet stunning Versace gown with no loud makeup, no bizarre fashion statement and even better nothing that could make me fall off my seat. The structural silk neck adornment stunner gave me the feel of the top of one of Chrysler building – which is quite fitting for the New York native, don’t you think?

Last but definitely not the least Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein, a definite award winning gown if you ask me (if ever there would be awards for gowns). The gown is encrusted in beading from head to toe. Its simple silhouette, cap sleeves and dramatic monochromatic beads is simply divine and Ms. Watts is killing it – I am totally taken by the entire look.

Until next time.
