Product review #10 | The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter

Hey there my lovely followers,

As you might be aware, I am a YouTube tutorial junkie and today’s product review has been inspired by the whole ‘strobing’ phenomenon.  The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer has somehow been popping up non-stop as one of the best highlighters everrrr for the strobing or in basic English …. excess highlighting.  So of course I got as curious and I had to get the product for myself and test it out myself.

20150817_190853So let me introduce to the Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly honey-hued luminizer that truly catches everybody’s eye. This highlighter, can easily be multi-used for instance as a shadow since it’s shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow.  Pleasantly, I can easily say it is everything I hoped and more and what everyone on YouTube has already said it would be, so I’ll keep this one short and sweet.

First and foremost , the packaging is just the most adorable ever. The amount of product is quite good too and for the price of Eur24 plus from feelunique.com, I would say it’s a tad pricey and not really a drug store brand price range, even though many beauty you tubers list it as so.

With regards to the texture of the powder is quite buttery and blends invisibly into the complexion leaving behind a healthy golden glow to your face that is only noticeable when, the applied area is turned into the light. When used with a fan brush it does tend to pick quite a good amount of product which is ok if you are on board of the whole strobing / Kardashian-esque look it truly can built up to it.  The best part about the Mary-Lou is perhaps that it doesn’t appear shimmery or glittery. It almost looks like I’ve applied a cream highlighter. It also looks absolutely gorgeous on the inner corners of the eye and bridge of the nose.

The only thing that might give me trouble is the fact that it’s a bit metallic and might have the tendency to emphasise imperfections a bit too much for my liking. Moreover, if not blended properly it might look patchy.

After 9hrs of wear you can easily see the effect on cheek and forehead still showing

All in all I would say it’s a very good highlighter and I really like it and have been reaching out to it more often lately so I guess you can say it’s my top highlighter at the moment.

Hope you enjoyed this product review, let me know what you think 🙂 Have you tried any of The Balm products would love to hear about the product you tried and what did you think?

Until next time,
XOXO

Caroline
