Pre-Malta Fashion Week #5 | La Cupola by RoseMarie Abela

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog! 5th spotlight pre-Malta Fashion Week led me to catch up with Rosemarie Abela.

Rosemarie’s fashion studio, is led by herself, a 25 years old fashion designer, from Siggiewi Malta.

Rosemarie established her brand in Malta after graduating from Polimoda fashion school in Florence in 2014.  Coming back from Florence she found herself participating at the Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Malta for the first time where she won the award as the best upcoming designer.

At the end of 2014 the brand opened a small fashion studio in Qormi which has enabled it to establish itself locally, customer after customer, specializing in be-spoke pieces.  Rosemarie Abela studio has been working with different clients for weddings, events and more. In 2017, the brand has also dressed the young talented Maltese singer Janice Mangion.

In the near future the brand has two exciting projects coming up, which we really are looking forward to unveil.  We promise our clientele that we are working harder than ever to improve the quality and the services at Rosemarie Abela Fashion Studios to bring our customers the best experience out there.

So tell us more about this new collection?
A collection made for women who are curious and express themselves through fashion individuality.  La Cupola collection draws its inspiration from the Mosta Dome, Malta Skyline and the Neo Classical period. Simple though sophisticated with a twist of street style. Presented with a different perspective looking at its columns, arts, windows, doors and specific silhouette of the Mosta Dome.

The collection silhouettes are mainly inspired by a Fashion Icon, Iris Apfel, A 95 year old avante garde woman.  A silhouette which fits the ones who dare to wear what they love.  In Iris Aprel words “I don’t dress to be stared at. I dress for myself

What are the colour tones we will see in the collection?
A monochrome Colour palette with accents of dark blue and gold, with an occasional pop up of Maltese skyline included on dresses and skirts.

Black and white classics with refined textures and fabric manipulation at its best. Opening with a street style look with a black neoprene playsuit, white high waist boxy pants paired with a detailed leather top with beautiful flowing pleated wool sleeves. Going onto, knitwear, sleeveless dark navy dress, topping it with a twisted knitted dungaree which changes shape and reflects the details and silhouette of the dome. Ending with a white & gold combined skirt and top with leather closing details. To complete the collection, more skirts, tops and trousers looks that stand out in unexpected fabrics like fur, waterproof and perforated fabrics.

Yet again another great collection and totally up my alley and cannot wait to see it all come together.

Rosemarie Abela Fashion Studio will be launching their second collection La Cupola for AW ’17/’18 at Malta Fashion Week, on Monday 22nd at Fort St.Elmo, Valletta.  If you cannot make it, I will be there so make sure to follow my socials  especially Facebook and Instagram to see what’s going on.

Until next time,
XOXO
