Pre-Malta Fashion Week #6 | I Love Valletta by Ritienne Zammit

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!  The first day of Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Malta is closing in and it is of great pleasure for me to bring you an insight into Ritienne Zammit’s new #collection.

If you follow the local fashion industry you know that Ritienne Zammit’s show is always a highly anticipated one and this is because she manages to translate history, culture and current issues and embody them into work of art in the form of wearable clothing.

To date I have only witness her amazing work for the first time last year, it was a surreal experience and this is because whether you like it or not there is something mesmerizing in her work and the prints that she creates for the audience/clientele are something incredible.

Needless to say the most asked question for this week is what inspired this collection? Here is what Ritienne had to share with us.

The theme of this year’s collection shines on the famous Maltese capital city, one that is well known to anyone who has lived or spent time on these islands. The collection this year expresses the love and appreciation I feel towards Malta’s capital city, Valletta.

As every Maltese native knows, Valletta received its noble name after The Great Siege of 1565, when the Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette inaugurated the construction of the fortified city.  Started being built in 1566, Valletta was nicknamed Superbissima, meaning ‘the Most Proud.’ And from an artist’s standpoint, this can be seen through copious architectural characteristics from Baroque, Mannerist, and Neo-classical periods.

However, as my inspirations are always bold and never too obvious, this year’s inspiration lies in the hidden mysteries and famous occurrences that have recurred within Valletta throughout the last 451 years.

Therein lies the mystery that is Ritienne Zammit that I am in awe off.  Do I hear another jaw-dropping collection, pretty much yes in my opinion and the fact that her show is the last one of fashion week safe to say that the most awaited week in the fashion industry will truly finish with a bang!

If unfortunately you cannot make it to the show, I will be there so make sure to follow my socials  especially Facebook and Instagram to see what’s going on.

Until next time,
