My Journey with CHIC Med-Aesthetic #3 (Part 5) | LHR : Bikini Lini and Upper lip : First session

Hello there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!

If you might have seen my previous posts I have started LHR (all link at the end of the post) with my full legs and underarms, however, more recently I decided to start procedures on my bikini area and upper lip.  Yes to date I have chickened out from having the Brazilian done – I am unashamedly afraid of the pain – I don’t think my pain threshold can handle it – but I stand to be corrected!!!

I have to say that the new areas for today were a learning experience for me since I really don’t know much about the area ‘down there’.  I am deciding to share with you my experience just in case you ever find yourself where I was and need a little clarification or reassurance.

So I had my first LHR session about 2 weeks ago for the above new areas. In preparation, as previous occasions I shaved a day before my treatment.  Also, it is very important to stay out of the sun prior of getting LHR.

I was a little nervous about how painful it would be especially with both new areas considered as sensitive areas.  Started off with my upper lip area and truth be told I imaged a good amount of discomfort and pain, but it was more the burning hair smell right under my nostrils that bothered me more, thankfully the upper lip area is so small we were done in a few minutes and the smell lasted a max of 2 seconds after my Doctor was done.  With regards to pain it is totally bearable.  It is nothing compared to getting said areas waxed, which literally brings tears to my eyes. The Doctor on the day was as sweet and all the others I met at CHIC and they get you talking while the session is going so they kind of distract you from what she would be doing – which is an awesome trick 🙂

On the other hand, the bikini line was a bit more uncomfortable.   For as long as I can remember I have always shaved it or waxed it but the results were never satisfying and I hated the pimpled look from the shaver and the ingrown hair from the waxing.   Besides the fact that with shaving and waxing hair along the bikini line tends to be longer and run deeper under the skin, which results in more discomfort, so my only next and so far best option is LHR.

My doctor asked me how far in I would like to go which caught be a bit off guard as I have not really thought about it, I was not sure what to say but I believe we did two or three inches in all around in triangle shape.   The session felt a bit more intense than my upper lip which I am assuming is because of the thickness of the hair.

The doctor told me I could take a break if needed but I powered through as the stinging feeling only lasted a few seconds.  The bikini line area session lasted about 10 mins and by the time I was applying aloe vera gel to soothe the skin of the treated areas any discomfort I had was all gone and I was able to drive back home.

A few hours later my bikini line looked a bit redish but it was nothing to worry about, as its all in the norm.  Obviously for the newly done areas I have to wait for a few days for the dead hair to be rejected by my body.  For the bikini line, I might notice hair actually falling out, since it runs deeper under the skin. Hair follicles aren’t all active at the same time, so when I start noticing my hair starting to grow back, that’s a good thing, since those follicles will be the ones that the laser will kill at my next session.

Normally Laser hair removal sessions are scheduled two months apart to allow a different set of follicles to become active. In my case since summer is at the door it will have to be in October as I have to wait approximately a month from my last day in the sun.

Side note : On the same day I also went in for my 4th session of my underarm and full leg.  At this stage I can say that my hair growth has decreased radically! I am very happy to say that well after the 8th week when I was meant to go in for my session (in May) I barely had any hair.  I have to admit that I didn’t know what I was missing until I started doing LHR.  I mean the fact that I do not have to shave every single day in Summer is just amazing.  The fact that I do not have more cuts and pimples is priceless.  I highly highly recommend any one for this and if you start it from a young age even better.

Until next time,
