BTS #2 | MFWA 2018 | Insight in Rosemarie Abela Fashion Studio’s Al-Magrib collection

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!

downloadWoohooo another installment from my BTS post that will in time lead us to much awaited Malta Fashion Week and Awards happening betweeen May 26 and June 2. After the nice feedback I got from my first post (Thank you) – which if you missed it you can catch it here, today I bring you and insight into another designer who will showing their collection during MFWA and this is  Rose Marie Abela’s Al-Magrib collection and of course a ‘sneek peek’ into her new collection is also included in this post.

So I caught up with Rosemarie Abela and OBVIOUSLY the question of the day was OF COURSE what inspired your collection for this year and if you want to know what she told me then read on 🙂

The collection as stated is called Al-Magrib – the arabic word for ”Kingdom of Morocco” – following the fact that it is very much inspired by Moroccan architecture and style when it comes to colours, details and print.  However, an additional inspiration for the collection is Leonardo Da Vinci and his artwork, especially his sketches on human anatomy.

For this year collection the colour scheme of choice is black, white and beige being the core colours accompanied by denim, cobalt blue and burned orange. The Moroccan silhouette is seen in the wide legs and a specified waist. Among some of the styles you will find tailored suits, detailed jackets, airy evening gowns and cool swimwear.

The overall vibe is luxurious, detailed, powerful and bold. Materials used in the collection include neoprene, denim, cotton canvas, suede, jacquard woven cotton/poly-amide, silk/poly-amide, mesh, silk satin as well as silk Georgette, which gives a variety of textures and feel to the collection.

I really cannot wait to witness the shows for myself and see the designers work, ideas, thoughts and dedication come to live.  This is only the second post of a few more to come and I can tell that the designers have turned it up a notch.  They listened to the criticism, if any, and took all the good from last year’s reviews and worked with that to make their audience feel captivated.  I am sold already with these sneak peeks, can you imagine me on the day of the show all in jitters trying to see where these prints are.

Are you guys excited for Fashion Week?  Well I know I am 🙂

Also, are you enjoying these posts? Let me know your feedback it always welcome.

Until next time,

XOXO
