Event Post #77 | Chamber of Fashion Malta | International Night of Culture through Fashion

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!

Last Thursday I had the honour to be invited to the Chamber of Fashion Malta‘s event “An International Night of Culture through Fashion” at the magnificent gardens of the Verdala Palace in Rabat.  All events I get invited to are always exciting, however, this event gave that little bit of extra enthusiasm because it allows us to see a lot of fashion designers from around the world.  This year’s event was also held to raise money for the The Malta Community Chest Fund, who falls under the patronage of H.E. the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

Of course it was yet another excuse to dress up and with a dress of ‘Fabulous’, you can only image the stunning gowns and outfits seen on the night – but this is for another post, for this one let’s get down to the fashion shows 🙂

GIADA CURTI presented the ‘Jackie Collection’

Italian couture designer Giada Curti showcased her enchanting The Jackie that is designer’s take on S/S 2019 inspired by the timeless elegance embodied by Jackie Kennedy.  The collection, is inspired by Jackie Kennedy who loved her summers in Italy and cruises in the Mediterranean.  We expected to see elegance, wear-ability and colourful looks and that is exactly what we saw on the catwalk.  In a nutshell the essence of summer. Loved it all Giada – really would not mind owning a piece from this stunning collection.  Bravissima!!

All the way from beautiful and colourful SOUTH AFRICA, the fashion show by Danny Moodliyar from ONE AFRICA showcased fashion collections from Sibu Misimang, Brenda Quin, Katherine Montague and Karla Morton.  These four designers have been selected and asked to create pieces that promote the flavours of a multi-cultural South Africa.  With the good use of vibrant colours we saw some very interesting creations and beautiful statement accessories including a turbans which are a HOT trend this summer worldwide! The four collection were cohesive to one another making the show very pleasant to watch.  Well done to all the designers.

Jewel-stylist, maker of very special artworks, Marina Corazziari presented us with a one-of-a-kind jewellery collection. Her creations were made of coral, turquoise, blue topaz and ivory, aquamarine, jade, amber mounted in gold or silver sheets to celebrate the colours of the multicultural Mediterranean.  Inspired by women for women who are not afraid to be bold and love to make a statement through their fashion choices as well as their actions! Beautiful 🙂

Maltese designer James Dimech showcased his awesome sustainable fashion collection of one-off creations that are put together by using many pieces of paper, assembled together to make dresses of various shapes, designs and lengths.

Using pages from used magazines cut, folded, and refolded using the Origami technique, these dresses need countless hours spent in concentrated thought, planning the process, and then the exhausting manual work involved in production, makes this a very creative and unique collection. Hats off to all involved and a big well done to James and his team for this lovely show! #supportlocal #sustainablefashion.

All the way from Croatia, Sladana Krystic showcased her collection from her brand Queen Mood Couture.  Collection gave an array of amazing colourful gowns and sculptural floral head pieces.  A very good selection of long dresses and two piece outfits outlined the designer’s strength – that of manipulating fabrics and mixing of various textures, resulting in one beautiful piece after another!  Dobro Napravljeno!
