First Impressions #21 | Organii Sun Milk SPF20 including After Sun cream

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!

Choosing the right sun care products used to be such a pain for me – with so many products on the shelves, which ones should you go for? After doing some in-depth research into the difference between synthetic and mineral filters, SPF factors and UVA/UVB rays, I now feel so much more knowledgeable about what to look out for when shopping for sun care products.

So with this newly found knowledge, and well into the hot summer season here in Malta, I decided to try out a natural sun care products by a fairly young company, Organii EVERYDAY ORGANICS imported in Malta by the company MINT Health.  MINT Health are at the forefront of the Maltese Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sector, providing high-quality brands to the local market.  Through service excellence and a new outlook on the sector they aim to invigorate the local  market by providing the best experience possible for consumers, customers and suppliers.

Organii pride themselves in producing a range of ethical, affordable and certified natural and organic products. Apart from sun care products, they also make soap bars (I’ve already tried them and they’re really fab!), liquid hand wash and shower gels.

So here’s an in-depth look at the product.

Organii Sun Milk SPF20

Key to ingredient lists:

  • Ingredients known to have positive benefits
  • Ingredients that may cause irritation (especially to sensitive skin)
  • Ingredients considered potentially harmful/ toxic

Product description:

The New ORGANii SPF 20 Sun Milk has a natural formula that is mild enough to be used by the whole family, making it suitable for all skin types and ideal for fair and sensitive skin. The medium protection formula has a fluid consistency meaning there is no whiteness or residue on the skin after application, protecting your skin from the UVB & UVA rays naturally and safely. It is enriched with organic coconut and jojoba which hydrates and soothes the skin.

Waterproof however always, re-apply after swimming, suitable for vegans, fragrance free, paraben free, colorant free.  Product is also dermatologically tested, nickel tested <1ppm – Certified Organic by ICEA.

INCI – aqua (water), dicaprylyl ether, pongamia glabra seed oil, zinc oxide, caprylic/capric triglyceride, polyglyceryl-3 polyricinoleate, glycerin, alcohol*, olea europaea fruit oil, titanium dioxide, oryza sativa bran oil, cocos nucifera oil*, linum usitatissimum oil*, argania spinosa kernel oil*, simmondsia chinensis oil, magnesium sulphate eptahydrate, magnesium stearate, hydrated silica, pongamol, alumina, tocopherol, helianthus annuus seed oil, daucus carota root extract*, stearic acid, bisabolol, oryzanol, parfum**, benzyl salicylate, limonene, linalool (* ingredients from organic farming, ** as component of essential oils, *** made using organic ingredients).

What I like most about it is that when applying it to your skin, it doesn’t feel greasy at all, in fact it has a nice silky consistency, and it doesn’t leave that unwelcome white cast at the end.  If I’m absolutely picky, it’s a bit too runny and could be thicker, as it just flows out of the tube and you have to be careful not to spill loads of the product everywhere around you.  In fact, because it’s so runny a little goes a long way so be careful not to dispose a lot as other it will take you forever a day for it to completely sink in.

In terms of its ingredient formulation, it has a few lovely skin-nourishing oils, including olive, rice bran, coconut, linseed, jojoba, argan and sunflower oils. An interesting ingredient is also the pongamia glabra seed oil,  listed third in the ingredient list (which means there’s high quantity of it).  Pongamia oil, also known as karanja oil, comes from the pongamia glabra trees, native to Asia. Pongamia has been used as folk medicinal plant, especially in Ayurvedha and Siddha systems of Indian medicine. Karanja oil contains more than 50% of unsaturated acids and is rich in flavonoids (a diverse range of phytonutrients, with powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune system benefits). Key skincare benefits of karanja oil include insect repelling, as well as antimicrobial and natural sunscreen properties.

Back to the sun milk – the SPF20 provides medium protection but that is, in my humble opinion, adequate for me as I have darker skin tone, however for my kiddo and hubby I did opt for the SPF50, so to be sure that they don’t get sun burned.  There’s very little difference between SPF20 and SPF50 as far as protection from UVB rays is concerned.  I also think this sun milk is really good value for money, with a free after sun cream being offered in the pack. Finally, I also found the explanations about natural sun care on the packaging particularly useful and informative.

Overall, thumbs up for: good value for money, lovely formulation with great plant-based oils, easy to apply with a silky consistency, doesn’t leave white cast and doesn’t feel greasy.

Organii After Sun Cream

Product description:

This soothing natural and organic After Sun Cream will hydrate, refresh and moisturise your skin after enjoying the sun. Organii After Sun Cream is enriched with organic shea butter that contains a high concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids, which naturally nourishes and softens dry skin. Soothing organic Aloe Vera will help to cool, soothe and hydrate the skin after enjoying the sun. Apply to the skin post sun exposure to reduce dryness and help prevent peeling for a long lasting beautiful tan.

INCI –  aqua (water), aloe barbadensis gel, cetearyl alcohol, butyrospermum parkii butter, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, parfum**, argania spinosa kernel oil*, glycerin, calendula officinalis flower extract*, tocopherol, lactic acid, benzyl alcohol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate.

*from organic farming, **natural origin

In terms of ingredient formulation, the list looks fine and the cream also contains aloe vera gel (it’s second on the list which is great as it means there’s actually quite a lot of it!) as well as a selection of skin-nourishing ingredients, namely shea butter, argan oil as well as calendula flower extract.

I have to say that this product has a better consistency than the sun milk, great value for money if bought separately.  Side note: after taking my make-up artist advise I have been using this sun cream everyday as a primer when stepping out of the house.  The temperature have gone really high here :/

Both products are available from Mint Health website which you can access here.  Mint Health have also been generous enough to offer all my readers and followers a 5% discount code.  Feel free to use DIVAINSIDE5 at check out to save some money, however, the discount is limited to one per customer.

I am really happy that I found out about this company and brand as they are really great and I have been really loving them.

Until next time,
