Hey there my lovelies,
Welcome back to my Blog!
One week more and August is done and dusted 🙂 and it’s right about that time that I start counting down the days for Fall … Yes, I know the phrase ‘fall/winter trends 2018’ isn’t really music to your ears right now … but for mine it surely is. And yes, I know your mind’s is probably still occupied by summer fashion trends 2018 but mine is already working on the winter wardrobe.
I also know that the current weather conditions don’t really have you thinking, ‘MUST buy more knits’. But never has the saying ‘success is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration’ been more apt.
So what’s new for this eagerly awaited Fall/Winter season? My lovelies, get ready for some padding, protective lines and cosy knits, these upcoming trends are truly heading for more and more comfort, however as fashion goes it will retain its sense of fun, its colour and glamour. In a nut shell, this season it’s all about celebrating your individuality of style through the multitude of trends waiting to be worn. AMEN!
In order to help you guys out (and myself too ofc) here’s a guide of what in my opinion will be the hottest key looks to start stocking up on 🙂
Check print
Royalty #style is this season fashion furore which will be heading us into Fall … the monarchs are ‘on trend’ as never before and I have to admit that I love them right back. Get ready for stiff upper lip style in the form of trad tweeds, plaids and perfect silk headscarves that will be everyone’s cuppa tea.

Colour blocking with new colour combos
Designers including Marc Jacobs brought joy by showing off their colourists skills – think beautiful, unusual palettes, think of your favourite artists and try and picture colours everywhere. Take hint from the full-on neon seen at Prada, refreshing pastels, tonal blocking and amazing primary colour combos and you can rest assured that you will have this trend down path.

Black backed florals
We all love our floral dress for summer, but the upcoming season will be amping them up with a dark, dramatic twist (can I hear an Amen). Against a black background flowers look dark and decadent – don’t you agree?

Animal Print
Zebras and cheetahs are galloping into the spotlight as the animals du jour and there’s a lot happening in the world of furry coats – after Gucci’s recent announcement that they would no longer use real fur, I was pleased that other major luxury houses are following suit. Get stocked up on silky, standout leopard prints and those faux coats and get set to roar your way through the season.

Hats
Whether it’s all about dram or just wanting to stay warm – covering your head is autumn’s biggest accessory message. Did you catch Calvin Klein’s standout knitted balaclava? I am hoping for the high street rendition to come out very you soon and I will be all over it. On the other hand Versace was all about the 1980’s poptastic coloured beret and take note my lovelies as the large silk headscarf which I remember very well, will be your best new accessory friend 🙂 Now I know my mum will be so pleased 🙂 Thinking about it I might have to raid her drawers for those vintage headscarves.
Blanket coats
Cape lovers you will be please to hear that there’s a new update in town. Say hello to the blanket. And it’s not even a ‘blanket coat’ as such – it is quite literally a blanket. Grap your favourite blanky and drape it you, for an nonchalant take on covering up for the cold. Easy to whip on, easy to take off and use for emergency winter picnics. Just joking – the cashmere versions we saw on the catwalks would definitely demand a table, not grass.

Pretty graphics
If winter blooms are not your thing, there’s a whole other bold, non-pretty pattern trend to make a statement with. The choice is one of graphic prints with a strong 1980’s urban art vibe (like Burberry’s graffiti squiggles). Anything that looks like it has been lifted straight from the side of a New York subway carriage is fine by me :). So whatever hits your graphic fancy you are sure to find your style for this trend 🙂

Pajamas
The perfect antidote to animal print, bold colours and aggressive outerwear – say bonjour to the new AW18 update on robe dressing. Silk pajama suits, flowing belted robe coats and pretty lace-trimmed separates and your are set to relax in style. I am low-key living for this look and I eagerly awaiting to find the ONE that I like most to wear it 🙂
Subtle silver
That’s the futuristic silver – THE metallic to shine in this season. At the MM6 show one saw head to toe styles from trenches to boots. On the other hand, King Olivier Rousting at Balmain, was all about the glam that he undoubtedly loves so much, he dressed his models in high shine glam :). If all this is making you think ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ – fear not. There are also cool but less ‘Hollywood’ takes on the trend – like the parkas and holographic trenches.
Double denim
Saving the best for last, my utmost fave is the one trend that heads the top of the trends list this season. The total denim looks à la Brooke Shields circa 1984 (if you do know know who Brooke Shields is – google her :p). Get ready and set for the ultra luxury denim and the impeccably tailored style for maximum everyday elegance in your favourite denim.
What trends are you most looking forward to? Are you one that is influenced by trends?I I personally like to know what is hot for the upcoming season and then use what I like and work it around my own style.
Let me know your thoughts.
Until next time,
