Being a mummy myself I know the struggles one faces when travelling with kinds and I have to admit that I found this post really interesting and uplifting to say the least.  So I do hope you will enjoy this post as much as I did and please do make sure you go show this lovely family some love and follow their journey 🙂

Just because you’re a mom traveling with a young toddler, who may or may not drop peanut butter and jelly onto your lap or wipe his nose on your shoulder while you calm his tears, doesn’t mean you can’t look like a rock star. As a fashion-loving mom embarking on a nine-month journey around the world with my 2-year-old son, I had no intention of looking like a Tuesday-morning-haven’t-showered-tired mom while exploring the streets of Barcelona, Paris and Tokyo.

It is possible to look good while traveling with children. Here are five easy tips to help you rock it on the road.

  1. Invest in cute sneakers. No, I’m not talking about American gym shoes. Wearing some fashionable kicks, like these from Adidas, means your feet won’t be aching after walking miles upon miles along cobbled streets, yet can instantly make your outfit look cool.
  2. Ditch the hostel-kid backpack. Backpacks when travelling can be a godsend: storage and easy access for all of your must-have gear in an easy-to-carry contraption that won’t leave your shoulders aching. But you don’t have to bring a school or camper backpack. There are stylish bags that can carry everything you need for your child, and keep your hands free – for holding onto your little one. I love the Honest City Backpack (that doubles as a diaper bag) –lightweight and very chic!
  3. Makeup is your friend. Personally, I am a huge fan of a bold lip because not only is it fashionable, it makes me look awake when I am exhausted and polished when I’m feeling ragged. Makeup varies in other countries, so be sure you stock your tried-and-true favorites in your carry-on bag.
  4. Bring accessories. Accessories can be used and re-used – put your hair up and put on some dangling earrings, or have your hair down and wear a bold necklace. On the same outfit, you’ll have a completely different look without needing more clothes. Bring more accessories, which are smaller and fit in your bags more than extra clothes.
  5. Boyfriend jeans + midi-dresses are all you need. Boyfriend jeans are always in fashion and can be worn in so many different ways – and no one can claim you’re wearing “mom jeans.” Midi-dresses make you look stylish, yet don’t show too much when bending over to help your tot. Pack plenty of both and you have a no-fuss stylish wardrobe.

As much as you want to look great on your trip, be sure to save some room in your suitcase. With extra room, you can spend some time shopping and adding some stylish new pieces from the exotic place you’re are exploring – fun when you are wearing something and someone asks where you got it. “Oh this? Peru!”
