Styled by Diva #3|My top three tips to enhance our body

Hey there my lovelies,

Welcome back to my Blog!

Oh my my how I missed these post. I am truly in my element when I start writing these posts ๐Ÿ™‚ So for today’s topic I will be sharing with you some tips to enhance your body! I am pretty sure we all at one point we feel meh, however you will be surprised how a small addition or alteration in an outfit planning can make you feel extra good. It is all about perception ๐Ÿ™‚

Being of a plus-size women does not mean you cannot look fabulous! There are plenty of plus-size models and people that dress very well. All it takes is a little know-how, the right wardrobe pieces and a healthy does of confidence – always!

The first important thing you have to remember is know the basics of how to accentuate or hide areas of your body! The colours, cut and patterns of an item you wear can draw people’s eyes towards or away from your figure.

So less chit-chat and let’s explore these three tips shall we.

Dark vs Light

As you might be aware dark colours hide, while light colours highlight. In general, put light colours where you want to draw the eye and dark colours where you want to emphasize less! Ex. wear a light coloured belt over a dark coloured shirt if you want to draw attention to your waist or wear dark pants under a brightly coloured top if you do not want to emphasize your bottom half ๐Ÿ™‚

Big Patterns

Big patterns are more likely to make you look bigger so try to say away from instead opt for smaller patterns which will make your frame look smaller. For instance avoid huge flowered cover-ups in favour of a smaller floral print. However sometimes there are exceptions to the rule – I always suggest to try the outfit when in doubt as you could be in for a surprise.

Proceed with caution with horizontal stripes as they tend to enlarge unwanted areas. Stripes in general look messy on a plus-size clothing if they are diagonal unlike vertical. For instance pinstripes is a good place to start to experiment with stripes but do also venture into an abstract print because this tends to create a distraction. Wearing a horizontal stripes on your upper body will enhance and draw attention to the bust-line so if you want attention drawn to your bust area then go for it. Again the outfit needs to be worn in order to determine if the horizontal look is for your figure. For example a nicely balanced midi dress with horizontal line or colour-block can look absolutely attractive on a plus-size frame.

Some other pointers that I would like to point out again is that it is important to know which colours suit you best and not necessarily what’s in trend. Go for colours that flatter your skin tone as they will make your skin glow whilst of course avoid the ones that make you look washed-out!

I have already tackled this topic but it does not hurt to mention it again – it is of THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE to wear well-fitting and supportive under garments when going shopping. First and foremost it WILL MAKE YOU FEEL GREAT FROM THE INSIDE OUT and secondly it is the foundation for your final look. If you are wearing flimsy underwear that doesn’t support you sufficiently you will not get the awesome outcome you had envisaged.

Those were my top tips my loves and always remember I am always a click away. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure of an outfit, I can guide you into a whole new outlook on you wardrobe ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time.
